The Bellingham Challenger Soccer program is designed to offer an outdoor socialization opportunity through athletic participation between students with disabilities and their peers. The Challenger athletes will have the opportunity to learn about soccer, play soccer, and have Fun!

Challenger athletes will be paired with non-challenger student-athletes that will serve as “buddies” to their challenger peers. The role of the buddy is to offer encouragement, direction, and assistance to the challenger athletes who are participating on the challenger team.

The Bellingham Challenger Soccer program enables students with disabilities to now have the opportunity to play in a soccer league.

  • This league is co-ed and plays soccer
  • Challenger Students eligible: Pre-Kindergarten (4 years old) – Senior at High School (18 years old)

What is anticipated during Challenger Soccer: Team approach to knowledge transfer about the game of soccer in a fun and positive way: Big Toe, little toe, laces, movement, passing, and team work. Please note due to sensitivity to sound no whistles are applied during the sessions.
