Andrew Omiunu competes at National Finals of the Sierra Mist

dribble_pass_score_logo.gifBellingham Soccer Association would like to congratulate 10 year old Bellingham resident Andrew Omiunu for advancing to the National Finals of the Dribble, Pass & Score competition, sponsored by Sierra Mist and MLS. Andrew was one of 4 national finalists in the 10-11 year old category. Andrew won the local competition held here in Bellingham in June. He then won the regional competition held in Foxboro, and then won the New England competition at Gillette Stadium in October. Each of the 12 Major Leauge Soccer teams across the country conducted similar Dribble, Pass & Score competitions, so reaching this level was a huge accomplishment. Andrew will be flying to Texas this weekend (11/12 & 11/13) for the final round of competition. The competition will be on Saturday, and the awards will be presented at halftime during the MLS Cup championship game on Sunday. As an added bonus, our own New England Revolution will be competing against the LA Galaxy for the MLS Cup. The MLS Cup game begins at 3:30 PM on Sunday on ABC (Channel 5), so watch the game, and watch for Andrew at halftime.

Of the thousands of children that compete in the New England area alone, a number of Bellingham children have advanced to the New England level in years past. Andrew is the first Bellingham resident to make it to the National level of competition.   Andrew plays for the U14 boys “Bellingham United” travel soccer team, coached by his father, David Omiunu.

Bellingham Soccer conducts the Dribble, Pass & Score competition in June during “Soccer Night”.   Next June, bring your children to Dribble, Pass & Score, and they could end up with a chance to compete at next years MLS Cup!

Good luck Andrew!
